1900 The Wellington City Council bought the Tram system. 1901 In the March Census Wellingtons population was 64,000, making it New Zealands third largest city. 1902 The first cable cars began running on the Lambton Quay to Kelburne Line. 1904 First electric Trams for Wellington 1906 The first University of Victoria's building was completed and opened opposite Kelburne Park. 1907 On 17 December the Seatoun Tram line was officially opened. |
