I have lived in Kingsland since 1994 and have always enjoyed the offbeat character. The once gum-stained, grotty, 1980`s nowheresville pavement is now popular, with its blend of coffee, students, Goths, monied mums, speed-freaks, and all round regular folk. The streets are definitely alive here, and there is always some kind of inspiration to be found from the landscape and faces - whether its the sound of death-metal through egg carton sound-proofed walls, skateboard wheels scorching the asphalt, confrontational street art slapped up under the cover of darkness, or the drunken screaming of a Xmas work-do that's gotten way out of hand. Yeah, I live on New North Road. It`s our little bit of East Village...hee hee.
Exhibition: Depot Artspace, Devoport February 9th - 21st. `What made celebrities famous made a dumbass out of me`.
